Department of Transportation (DOT) Shipping Information
DOT hazardous material information is reported on the MSDS in the following format: Proper Shipping Name; Hazard Class, Subsidiary Risk (where applicable); UN Identification Number; Packing Group

Definitions and assignment of packing groups for each hazard class can be found in the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) Title 49, subpart D, sections 173.115 through 173.156

Hazard Class:
3 Flammable Liquid
4.1 Flammable Solid
4.2 Spontaneously Combustible
4.3 Dangerous When Wet
5.1 Oxidizing Substance
6.1 Toxic Substance
8 Corrosive Material
9 Miscellaneous Dangerous Substance

Packing Group:
I High degree of danger
II Moderate degree of danger
III Minor degree of danger
